Very informative
This book was carried by Charles Darwin on the voyage of the Beagle and had tremendous influence in dragging Darwin's "by rote" Religious training into using what Darwin observed to justify his conclusions. Particularly important was that the geologic layers observed on the sides of hills and mountains resulted from time deposition over extremely long periods of time and not as a design by instantaneous creation. Lyell's book influenced the entire future of biology, geology, astronomy and intelligence by shining the light of observed knowledge on the dark world of Roman myths, ceremonies perpetuated by the European version of the middle eastern Iman (i.e. the Bogeyman on the Tiber).
Pretty cool book. Some information is a little outdated but still worth reading for beginners in geology or even an interest in the matter.
One of the first books on the subject, Lyell's book remains relevant and informative.
This is a great book for those who are just starting out to study Geology. Although I'm a astronomer and physicist I found it interesting and I could relate the information to Astrogeology.
